The editing done on this photo was overall sharpening, increasing saturation, adjusting color temperature overall, curve adjustment, selective color filter, spot healing brush on skin imperfections, and dodging and burning in many areas to make areas pop out more.

I am at a loss regarding how to make self portraits interesting,

whether it be in terms of color usage, composition, or both. so far I

think this is my most visually appealing self portrait, but that isn't

saying much.. thanks in advance for any ratings or critiques on this.

I don't think you're at a loss at all. I think you're very creative.

it's an interesting shot, very creative!

A little heavy on the saturation for my taste, and too tight in the framing but that's just me. Good job!

I agree with you. Of the five self portraits that you have posted here, this one is the most effective. Why? I think it is because this is the only shot where we can see your eyes directly, not through your glasses. You might want to try more shots like this or leave your glasses off for a few and see if the results strike you differently.

Cheers,

I think you are under selling yourself, especially with this image. The colors work here, the drawer in the back pulled partially out works, your eyes work here. With the eyes you might try to find some way to create a highlight in them. The only thing that bugs me (no pun intended) is the pink bit behind your hair. Otherwise interesting and fun self portrait. One thing my instructors told me is that not all self portraits have to have the face in them, so you might play with some ideas in that vein. Fun and interesting image. .....Sherle

A funny attempt. All in all the photo is very good, interesting composition, vivid colors etc. Something could be done with the left border: the image would be better if the ring were not cut and the mysterious thing on the open drawer in the upper left corner were removed. But they are just minor issues.

I was going to ask "which frog are you?" but I will not. It is a very go photograph in my opinion. Maybe the focus on the one holding the frog could be better? But it is not so easy a shot to do.
