donmccrae 0 Posted July 14, 2008 After Monet's "Olympia", so yes I do know it's been done before. C&C welcome. Cheers, Don. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 14, 2008 Excellent work. You left out the maid. I hope to paint my own version when I get the space. Link to comment
millershrink 0 Posted July 14, 2008 Actually, it is after MANET's Olympia, an outrageous painting for its time. Not a nude, but a naked Parisian girl. A lovely photo, the composure and setting could not be better. Thanks! Link to comment
maddox 0 Posted July 15, 2008 Also, I think the original model's name was Victorine Meurent, and she went on to become a painter herself. Unfortunately, few or none of her own works survived, and she died in obscurity. Don, I think you and Amber have done a wonderful job paying tribute to this famous painting. Best wishes! -Michael Link to comment
tcashman 0 Posted July 15, 2008 You forget that Manet was also referencing an earlier painting, Titian's Venus of Urbino! Excellent photo -- superb reference to a canonical work of Western art! Link to comment
blue-olympus 0 Posted July 15, 2008 Hi Don...Really good reproduction. She looks superb against the black background! Don't worry about the Maid:-)) Link to comment
paulcasagrande 0 Posted July 15, 2008 Come antiquario apprezzo molto l idea e mi piace, trovo il fondale troppo severo e contemporaneo. ciao paul Link to comment
