knobby6 1 Posted July 10, 2008 Shooting tern dives this morning, trying to get bird half in and halfout. This was as closest as I got. Note tail and head. Link to comment
bob_belanger 1 Posted July 10, 2008 Well done. I also shot some terns last weekend (I have some in my most recent). This is excellent stop action. I was clearly shooting with a slower shutter and didn't produce this quality. I found it fun all the same, I don't know how you managed to get this, for me I just pointed the camera at the spot where the food seemed to be and was able to catch a couple of these guys, I mostly got them on the way out of the water so I'll have to try again. Congrats on a successful shot. Link to comment
knobby6 1 Posted July 11, 2008 My favorite bird to shoot, I just concentrated on dives today. Some days I just shoot them emerging after dive, easier and more dramatic. Link to comment
elportebonheur 0 Posted July 11, 2008 Exceptional action, Monte! In platform diving terms it would be a seven - and in PN terms the same. Regards, El Link to comment

knobby6 1 Posted July 11, 2008 Richard, I am a photographer who takes pictures of birds not a birder. Definite distinction. Link to comment
manut 0 Posted July 11, 2008 It took me a while to locate the tail, the head was easier. Itried this with the green heron but couldn't get it. Thansks for sharing the settings. BTW, You are the best bird photorapher around here :-) Link to comment
