Early Spring 2007 sunrise over the industrial plants near Ft. Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Using a 2x teleconverter for a 400mm focal length. No Photoshop altered colors here; the banding and deep orange were captured at 1/4 sec f22 EV -2 (using a tripod of course). The distance between the photographer and the drifting smoke is about 2km.

Suggestion: crop the black from the top and consider a little off the bottom.

Good, original shot overall

I agree with Tim. If you want to fully exploit the silhouetted stacks it has to be cropped closer, and possibly off center - accentuate the movement of the exhaust. Another possibility would be for a more balanced exposure. Still, we do get some interesting skies around here, to say the least. I like the layers in this one.

Cheers,

Aaron
