This is a wonderful picture. But I would like to know your settings?

With everything so sharp and this being a timed exposure I was wondering how you were able to make the boat so sharp and not a blur?

If you wouldn't mind sharing your technique?

Hong Kong occupy the 2nd position in the world's most beautiful nightscape & I can see why. Beautiful reflected light on the water & most lovely sparkling city of the night.

Incredible exposure! Would consider cropping out some of the dark water at the bottom, even if you lost some of the reflected light. I would like to own a large print of this.

Fantastic night shot !. Not easy to capture a shot like this with still quite good detail of the junk. Good work.

Wow! I'm sure you had a wonderful time there.

You've definitely redefined the "touristy" photo of hk's skyline. Kudos to you! 7/7

This image is striking in both rich color and contrast. The water reflections add to the sparkle. The only change I would make would be to use Photoshop to straighten up the keystoned verticals somwhat.

What makes this extra appealing to me is how the light glow is shown so brilliantly without over-exposing. Even the dark parts of the wavy water look extraordinary with the light reflection. There isn't one dull part about this image.

In looking over your portfolio, I see many very nice photographs, but few landscapes or seascapes --- Only a couple. Seems strange that the elves wouldn't choose one of your other photographs for this week, but I guess it is the brilliant colors of this image that attracted them.

The colors seem to be one of the faults with this image. Don't get me wrong, I do like the photo, but the color is just too intense in my view. I look at the color of the water's reflections and compare it to what caused that reflection and they are entirely different hues and much more sedate as well. Possibly you over emphasized the intensity of those reflected colors.

I also feel, as does Louis above, that there is a need to straighten out the verticals as the buildings tend to slope inward toward the center of the picture.

Thirdly, I would crop off the bottom where the major reflections seem to end. This will place the horizon line below the center of the picture and thus improve the composition in my view.

This would have been a great opportunity for a panoramic photo. The city lights seem to end too abruptly. I want to see more!

My very best to you, and congratulations for having been chosen for this weeks honor.

Great exposure. I like the lighting contrast and reflection in water. So colorfull and lively photo. Great quality photohgraph. I tried a very few and still trying for some good night shots, so I know this is defficult to get good exposure at night. Irecently captured a road light scene where the lights were refelected in water, I got good image but the qualiti of lighting was not achieved good. I got big glowing lights and were not looking good in the image when seen at latge size.

I am realy impressed here with the quality of lighting and the cloudy dark sky is the additional beauty to this photograph.

Heartiest congratulation for the award. And a well deserved one too. Indeed, your entire portfolio is a store of gem.

Coming to this photo, The light and color scheme is just perfect. Catches the spirit of the city wonderfully. However, I too feel that if the dividing line were in the lower half of the frame, it would have been better. At the same time what you said about the natural frame at the bottom is also true. One solution could be cropping a little bit from down and extending the clouds about a cm at the top. That one and half cm gain in the sky, which is a beautiful one, might have balanced the composition more. But , this is but a small suggestion and nothing compared to the excellence you have demonstrated here. Best regards.

I'm impressed by this image, and find it very attractive. I would like to see it big and lightened on a wall and think it would attract the eyes of everyone. IMO what makes it noticeable is, first of all, the rendering of the light(s). Indeed, very few night shots reproduce the light so succesfully as this, it is so natural, brilliant and persuasive. Then comes the contrast and the detail. The interaction of shadow and light is well balanced and the sharpness offers a feeling of naturalness and reality to the viewer. And then there is the contrasted processes of heaven and buildings/ sea/ boat. Very correctly the clouds are treated with a smoothing brush, whereas the rest of the image is sharpened. This adds to the depth of it. The boat is placed correctly and shows us a beautiful aesthetic lighting. Maybe the lower part of the image is not needed and therefore could be cropped, so as to bring the coast line to the lower third of the frame. I would like to be there and see this scene. But since I could not I'm sure that you reproduced in the best possible way what you saw, liked so much and offered to the others to enjoy it.
