Interesting capture of this person who seems disoriented by what's around him, culturally, visually; evidently homeless wearing a jacket in summer; perhaps catatonic; fixated on some point in infinity invisible to the rest of us that we can observe here in this candid capture. Kind of a voyeuristic shot that makes him out to be the object of curiosity like a creature in a zoo. I have a problem with this kind of shot because it expresses a disconnect between subject and photographer.

Another reaction I have is that this photo falls through the cracks in a way that this person appears to. Where does it fit? Where would it be hung or shown? I'm stating it merely as an interesting question to ask that I ask about a lot of my own images as well rather than in any way a judgment about the image.

Would be interested in seeing a portrait that he agreed to sit for; a more respectful exploration of what appears in this photo to be some sort of illness. I think a really close in shot that really explored his face and eyes and character could be a real winner because he is such an interesting subject.

In terms of composition the white ballooon coming out of the back of his head is distracting for me. Still, an interesting and disturbing image.

I'm new to this site. I notice people tend to do a lot of short compliments without delving too deep into the image, but this one is thought provoking. Thanks for posting it and inviting me to comment. --Mead
