galen_hayes4 0 Posted May 24, 2008 I guess I don't get it. I am trying to put my own bias to the side and see where the artistic merit might lay. There is so much distraction in the room it is very hard to enjoy the view from the window. I do like the light balance from room to outside. I can't say I don't like but I wish I understood it. Good luck keep on shooting. Galen Hayes Link to comment
canoe guide 0 Posted May 24, 2008 Hi Galen Thanks very much for taking the time to view and comment on this picture. Re: "getting it" - part of my intent with my Picture Windows series is to explore the difference between what is inside as opposed to what is outside. Often the two are diametrically opposed - in this case, order vs disorder, tranquility vs agitation. Additionally, in this case, beyond the merely obvious visual qualities of order/disorder, there is also an implied notion of transition - both inside and outside. Neither the view outside of the window nor that inside will be the same in fairly short period of time. These are things that were on my mind when I made this picture. Re: "artistic merit" - obviously, I believe that artistic merit is a quality that goes well beyond just the visual qualities of a picture Link to comment
