thanks for your honesty. i'm not sure if I understand in my head the effect you have here. I like the sepia choice though - might've liked to see the photo in just the sepia tone.

Marla, I love this concept. You have a great eye, great talent, and very creative.

Out of 160 images in your portfolio, this is the (first) one I clicked on, so I guess that means I like it.

I'm not sure why I like it, though. I mean, it's not a new concept to select a part of a picture and desaturate (or sepia) the rest, but the way you've done it here is interesting, to say the least. It has an MC Escheresque feel to it that keeps me looking. I think the tilt of the selected area is pretty important. Had you kept that part parallel to the image borders, it would be far less attractive. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought you had placed a color print behind the twigs, or something like that and my curiosity was piqued; now that I see what it really is, I'm surprised, and pleased that my curiosity is still engaged.
