Guest Guest Posted August 29, 2002 the star moving about her face is distracting, the face could be sharper and so her left hand. overall the photo is fantastic! Link to comment
chris_hawkins 0 Posted August 30, 2002 I like strange images, but I just can't see the point of this one. Is there a message here? What are you trying to convey? Be glad I'm not going to rate it. Link to comment
clovenguth 0 Posted September 5, 2002 Hi Im going to make a comment about your whole body of work on this image. OK? First let me say that it is great to finally see some real talent on photo.net. Most of the work here is drab. Anyway what Im would like to see is you move away from this Joel Peter Witkin, Bellocq, Quey brothers copying and find your own path. Im not saying they are bad inspiration and in fact I find them all inspiring, but your work is imitation, especially Witkin. Again not that imitation is bad and everyone does it, but I can see that you have thoughts and talent and need to move beyond the safety area of what you see and know and start forging these ideas. If you can move beyond the art school goth and really work on ideas you should have a great portfolio because technically and stylistically you are there. Otherwise you just end up making high art album covers with some nudity. My suggestion is to really dive in to why you are using nude people. Why you are using the beautifully gross objects. The goth eroticism. Really think about these because even though they are great visually, they are also overdone iconography. Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted September 16, 2002 This is one of the most creative and original nude collections I've seen. Well done. Link to comment
navarra 0 Posted October 21, 2002 I cannot see the point of this picture, and I find it quite disturbing to look at. However, the time took to complete this work is quite evident, and it's very original as well. I find this to be above the average pictures posted in these pages (including mine of course), but I'm not sure about how to rate it. I'll check out your other nudes. Simone Link to comment
RobertChura 0 Posted October 21, 2002 Joel Peter Witkin is a disturbed individual that needs to be forgoten and not copied. Link to comment
joseph_davidchik1 0 Posted October 21, 2002 As someone who has studied alot of JPW work (and many artists), I have to say you have to open up and read a bit more about his train of thinking before just labeling it. Yes, alot of his work is disturbing, shocking, etc... but they have meaning and reason. Sorry John that alot of conv has moved away from your print to a JPW discussion. However, I agree with Chrisotpher. What here is a John Santerineross vs a JPW? Link to comment
saybian.tv 0 Posted October 25, 2002 Composition and exposure gives a perfect balance of shadow and light. The black in the palms of the hands is the most startling and most understated thing in this image. Link to comment
patrick_michel_dagenais 0 Posted October 25, 2002 The more I look at your portfolio, the more I see imaginative work that really boggles my mind on how one could think of such complexe imagery. Many of your pictures are worth studying up close for a long time. It's amazing work and you have now a new fan. I'll be looking for your next uploads! Link to comment
kelly_bennett 0 Posted August 14, 2007 I love it! I only wish I was creative enough to come up with such a composition. The model is also more pleasing to look at then anything that joel peter witkin shoots, but it has the same quality that I love about his photos. Amazing work. If you feel like helping a n00b out I started a forum post discussing some of the techniques used in such photography. http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00METU Link to comment
