beasleyglb 0 Posted June 8, 2008 I was exploring the textures in the peeling paint on some old rolling stock at the Southeastern Railway Museum. This was a subject that could be followed for days. Link to comment
catherinevankempen 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Hi Gary, I just checked out your portfolio and you have some wonderful images there. You have a great sense of composition. If I could give you some advice about shooting images like the one above ... it's all about light. I was way into shooting this kind of stuff for awhile and I learned that the coolest texture if shot in straight light comes out flat. In my experience open shade works well and so does light coming in from a strong angle so you get lots of shadow texture. You could also consider shooting b&w which can be very interesting for these kinds of shots. Oh and one more thing, if you look carefully you can often find patterns in these kind of rusty items, focus in on that texture and and create composition where you wouldn't think any can be found. Sorry, this is a long post, hope I could help a little bit. Thanks, Catherine Link to comment
