six gun dan 0 Posted August 26, 2002 I wonder if the shadow on the green pepper was just a tad less if the highlights of all three peppers would then become to intense? I'm no pro yet, but IMHO the shot is might fine from a technical standpoint. I play with digital as well as film photography and I have never been completly happy with the color reproduction of digital under some circumstances. I can't help but wonder if you couldn't get more brilliant colors with film. It might be cool to try this shot on a shiny black surface - one that reflects well - and get the reflection of the peppers in the surface they sit on as well. Just a thought. Reminds me of a pepper poster at in a friend of mines kitchen :-) Link to comment
erol_ata___nyc__nj 0 Posted August 26, 2002 I shot this in 3 formats. 35mm, medium format(120) and digital.. Film is being processed so we'll see if ther is a difference. Link to comment
six gun dan 0 Posted August 26, 2002 Cool. I'd be interested in seeing the photo(s)when developed. I *wish* I could afford to get into a medium format rig :-) I too shoot many of my subject both digitally and on film and 95% of the time I prefer the results of the traditional photography over the digital. I'm dying to try out a digital SLR and see if what the results are. Link to comment
erol_ata___nyc__nj 0 Posted August 26, 2002 Dan its really not that expensive to step up to medium format. I puchased a Kiev 88, it looks identical to a Hassalblad but obviusly not the quality, I paid $200 for it with 80mm lens, two film backs, waist level finder as well a prism viewfinder. Ther are also other options, look on E-bay auctions you'll find lots of stuff. I even purchased a plastic toy holga 120. Lots of light leaks but the images come out almost dreamy. 120 is great, you get such sharp image contrast and great for enlarging very large prints. My next toy is a 4x5 view camra. Link to comment
tony_cooper 0 Posted September 14, 2002 The tops are overexposed. The brights on the green and yellow peppers are too much. Link to comment
chip l. 1 Posted September 18, 2002 Doesn't seem to have any "depth"; also seems a bit over saturated on my screen. Link to comment
six gun dan 0 Posted September 18, 2002 They are peppers. They are in good focus. They are set against what basically amounts to a *void*. How much depth can it have? How much does it need? I just got back from a trip to - among other places - Santa Fe NM where I visited - among other things - a number of the art gallerys there. One had basically the same picture, but in B&W - print not even 4X6 but a bit smaller. Damn thing was selling for around four or five THOUSAND dollars. Go figure. Hey Erol, I know the Gallery - can I be your agent??? Link to comment
erol_ata___nyc__nj 0 Posted September 18, 2002 Dan, I can use a good agent. You got the job! Link to comment
