Oh Grampio, that little princess will be giving you many more adorable photos. you may just have to turn in your curmudgeon badge...at least every once in awhile. my favorite parties with my kids were the backyard variety. i always had a theme and made up my own games to go with them. my youngest hasn't wanted to do those though and my oldest is 15, so i guess i will have to wait for grandkids to do that again.

Hey cut that out. I think you must be lusting after my title. You are too young and unpracticed to be a top notch curmudgeon. Wait your turn.

I'm still waiting for a people pic from you. I am pretty mellow at this point. But I'm going to try to do some pics that are more in keeping with my dim view of the world. Stand by and keep the V8 loaded.

I hate to be the one that breaks the news to you, but they don't do parties in the backyard anymore. Might be toxic materials there or they might get terminally bored. Either way it's too dangerous. LOL Really, I'm amazed how in a small fairly affluent town like this all the kids have to get the same great party options as their friends. I choke back a bit of a chuckle every birthday party as my son grimaces when he gets the bill. Fortunately he can afford it, but I'm not sure what it says about us as a country, our culture or our values. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it as much as the next person, and, of course, nothing is too good for our progeny, but you do have to wonder where you end up when every year has to top the year before.

I'm thinking about suggesting that for a birthday party we invite the kids over and go help some elderly person with their yard or housecleaning or some other act of charity. Boy, wouldn't the kids disown me in a flash. :)

David,

for several years, we did request donations for the local food pantry instead of gifts. a lot of parents had a hard time dealing with that. one year, when we brought the box of food to the food pantry, they thought we had come in to get food instead. maybe i was "dressed down" a little. it was August in Louisiana, and i did have a baby on one hip. when we went out, a brand new cadilac full of people did come in to get food....strange world we live in!

It's a rare day when you can catch such an ensemble shot as perfectly as you have done here. How many are the failures, the eyes closed or the unfortunate movement that spoils the perfect shot. All is forgotten when the results are as they are in this picture. And how I long for those vanished days when my feet couldn't reach the ground as I sat on the bench but just swung below me in idle pleasure.

You can still have those days when your feet don't touch the ground. Get one of those office chairs and jack it up way high. Or drugs :)) But, alas, you nor I shall see the world from that perspective again. I'm still having a bit of fun, and hope you are too.

On another note, there was a little piece on Sunday morning about certain Japanese cafes that have the waitresses all dressed up in French maids' outfits, and they gang around the customer and make him feel like a real prince. Ah, the Japanese... What will they think of next?

You need to get with the program, have those kids, so you can have grandchildren. Only then can you know true happiness. Besides that, I'm thinking you will fit right in with the kids, and your poor spouse will probably have to be the adult of the family.

Doug, I was only kidding man. Really. Don't get all apologetic on me. LOL Really loud.

And it's my understanding that they don't wear underware either. Oooh-la-la. Of course this is merely hearsay. Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in such a place mainly because I fear that I might be caught dead in such a place and then what would my grieving family think of ol' Jack?

A great collection of princess you have there, each with their own personality...hopefully the oldest is the only one responsible that looks to the photographer...

I wanted to visit before I take some holiday...was a bit disapointed to find nothing new, but it lead me to dive into the old images and it's pleasure...see you around in august David...

Thanks for the visit. I'm always honored. I love this image, but it has my grand daughter in it, so that pushes me way over the bridge on objectivity.

No, I have not posted anything new for awhile. I'm in a little dry spell, so spend my allotted time on Pnet looking and not posting.

Hope you have a great vacation.
