kelly_morello 0 Posted August 24, 2002 this photo was taken in Boston on a hot summer day and I was just about to give up for the day then this couple started to go down to the subway ....i didn't even think I just took it. I really like this one, although i know it needs some work. Any comments on this one would be greatly appreciated. thanks again Link to comment
kelly_morello 0 Posted August 25, 2002 thanks Eric.......the reason I did it this way because I wanted the image to have depth and a sense of a journey. but maybe it hasn't worked for me. thanks again i'll work on the croping. Link to comment
tonys 0 Posted August 25, 2002 You have a very touching picture here Kelly. You caught a rare moment, and the title is perfect. Since this is obviously a street photography, I understand you did not have time to fiddle with controls of the camera. I wouldn't play with cropping either, except probably to rotate the picture 0.75 degrees clock wise. I also think that the exposure time is slightly longer then necessary. Attached is my attempt to improve the contrast and to correct camera leveling. Link to comment
ericc22 0 Posted August 26, 2002 This is a repost, to correct a mistake -- I posted the wrong photo previously! Kelly, Nice work -- I think you have a great subject here. A disclaimer first of all -- don't take anything I say too seriously as I am a beginner! If it were me, I'd play a bit with the cropping. To me, the subject is the 2 people. I find the stuff around the subway entrance to be distracting. What would happen if you cropped the picture so that you eliminated as much of the entrance as you can? I think you can still tell it is a subway but it places the focus on the people. See what it looks like if you make the people as large as possible. I attached a pic to give you a sense for what I was thinking might help. Your call if it does! Just a thought. Hope it helps! Link to comment
rsminton 0 Posted August 26, 2002 This is a nice catch. It could use a little more contrast, but that can be taken care of in Photoshop or printing. After rotating a tiny bit clockwise (so that the top step in the foreground is level), I'd do what I tell my barber and take just a bit off the top. Link to comment
brad 0 Posted September 12, 2002 Nice shot Kelly. Some cropping might help...have you tried a vertical crop? Link to comment
ncarnick 0 Posted January 10, 2003 This is a really interesting shot. The title is great. The photo feels natural. I especially like seeing photos of everyday locations that are interesting. You could have titled this "The Photo that many would have missed" and it would have been just as accurate. Thanks. Link to comment
