No sunset, no long exposures of flowing water, no sea washing over

stones, no overdone HDR, no overdone saturation, not even color!

Sorry, but it is not bad. Has good tonal range, sense of depth and a nice composition that makes the eyes go through that dark valley towards the escaping way at left (I think that the clouds help a lot for this). Try again ;)

for your comments. I haven't done much Black and White recently, very rarely landscapes. My intention was to concentrate on the basics like form and light. Judging from your comment the attempt was not totally hopeless.
