Its been a while since I have posted here as I have been busy with

various projects and of course the camera. This was taken recently on

Teesside UK and is part of a study of local industry. This uses a new

processing technique i have been working with which includes straight

and HDR exposures as well as CS3 work. Comments and crit welcome.

hi. for me, it looks ok at the smaller size, but becomes very obviously oversharpened and too artificial when viewed bigger. nice image, though.

I like the picture but the title of it disturbing me. In my humble opinion, your picture is not critique, but a celebration of modern industrial world. There is a beauty in the "dark side" and you show it here. It happens sometimes we are amazed by something we hate, or we believe we hate it from the deep of our heart.

I am personally no big fan of the HDR look, but must admit that you have achieved an excellent result here. The glowing sky contrast very nicely with the dark towers and gives the scene a "radioactive" and almost otherworldly look that is very appropriate. Very effective.

Very Nice image, definitely no waste there ( I agree with Juraj).

I like the contrast and color. It makes the image more dramatic.

Unfortunately without industry we woul remain cave dwellers.

Hi, Thanks for the comments .. the final version isnt over sharp but this web version maybe as I just ran a quick action against it. The halo behind the towers comes from them being backlit though not through oversharpening or the HDR.

The idea isnt to critique industry as such but to show a contrast between the damage it does and the beauty it can hold. I do a lot of industrial shoots and may well post a few more here over the coming months.

I almost always frown upon (what I would consider) over-dramatic HDR merges, but I like this one a lot! My only qualm would be the edges in the clouds (most noticeably the orange streak between the two reactor towers). It looks like you had some bleed from the brighter exposure that cause a weird overlapping when you merged it with the darker image that didn't have the spillover, you might try working with a layer mask, and a soft brush to ease out these edges? Skies and spill over is always the hardest part for me when working with HDR merges. It usually takes me ~5 minutes to get the initial merge and countless hours to do all the subtle tweaks...

Otherwise, great image! I love the palette and the balance. I am also very impressed that the steam from the towers came out in such detail!
