Hello Kah! This is nicely done and most significant is the overall exposure. You have managed to avoid the dreaded grad shadow that normally would be visible across the top of the rock peaking above the horizon. I will read the details after this message but would likely assume a grad was utilized. The horizon is nice and flat (not Curved) and the sky and clouds fan out ever so dramatically from the wide angle choice. The culmination of this photo story is the multi colored and textured stone in the lower right along with the oxidized? or algae covered? rock adding another color element. Beyond that is the thoughtful and clever title that parallels the photo concept, a rugged coastline of rocks and boulders blocking access to the inviting ocean water. Congrats on the new equipment as well. Cheers! Just noticed a hard grad. How did you avoid the grad shadow with a hard grad?

Thanks for your feedback here. The orange is lichen, commonly found on many Australian coasts. The light was fairly diffuse so the rock was not in shadow so a 2 stop hard grad wouldn't be expected to cause a clipped shadow. I also exposed to the right as much as possible to ensure I could retrieve detail from this area.

This is beautiful. The rock in the foreground is so clear and sharp and the sky was captured beautifully. Great work.

Beautiful shot Kah. The sky and foreground are quite dramatic in this. Extremely well composed as usual...some incredible depth. I tend to lean toward the color version of this shot, mainly for the color of the lichen, the detail of which seems to get lost in the b&w.
