See my comment about the previous image. It will explain WHY I'm suddenly posting out of my element. :-) Maybe this one works a bit better than the last?

I love it. Orchids are one of my favorite flowers. Would you consider cropping a bit of the black from the bottom?

Thanks to both of you!

Joan - the whole cropping question still eludes me. :-) I like to have a standard crop ... usually 4x6 or 6x4, and in a few instances (like this), if the 4x6 combination doesn't work, I'll go square. Had this discussion with Les Marriott on a recent image of mine ... he said that I should let the image determine the crop, and not rely on any particular random numbers like 4 and 6. I guess that it really comes down to whether I want to print this, and if so, do I want to cut the mat and build the frame myself to a custom size, or am I content finding a standard size hole and frame? (sigh....)

Thanks for the visit!

Hi Lou Ann, This is very appealing the the contrast of the hot pink against the black background lends to the overall contrast. The white edge od the petals is also brought out by the Darkness. the way you have part os 2 other blossoms is nice too. I always enjoy your work, thanks for sharing.

An orchid is "eloquence personified", a beautiful pink lady! I like the dark background, really lets the flower's beauty shine. And I totally understand your cropping dilemna, if I crop any of the image from the original file then I try to crop again to fit a standard format I wind up cutting out part of the image that's important to the composition. I try to do my cropping in camera so what I get is what I see and want, doesn't always work out and I do have a lot of odd sizes.
