laurent-paul 1 Posted April 12, 2008 This is a very an impressive photo : It automatically makes us think about all the paintings about Christ sharing bread, which in the context of this particular folder, without developping more, makes this photo a very powerfull one. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted April 12, 2008 Laurent, I do not understand "which in the context of this particular folder, without developping more,"...maybe I understand but I am not sure....In this place there was not much light; that shot in any light needed a tripod. Thank you for the critique. Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted April 12, 2008 Sorry, but I can't help doing associations which have nothing to do with the technical qualities of a photo but rather are on a more let's say "intellectual" level. What I see in this folder, is a ritual shared by two persons. They have this ritual in order to access another level of counsciouness, perception, or perhaps find a way to avoid the reality, which ends up beeing the same. This is therefore a whole spiritual ritual : Spirituality beeing the way to have our mind travel without the body itslef moving in space. And bu analogy it is a religious ritual, and that is what made me automatically associate this particular photo with Christ sharing the bread, which bread is today His body. I hope my fenchy way of writting english is understandable. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted April 12, 2008 On your email you mentioned that I had not responded or answered. Sorry. I will try again. You wrote.......makes us think about a painting...I said that I understand. I think that I have seen such a painting, maybe not. I did not know what they were doing in the painting but I know from elsewhere of the concept. On the other hand, most of us have not seen such an painting and would not think of it. Maybe that is why I did not know how to comment Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted April 13, 2008 I have a friend in Columbia. She is Catholic. I will ask her to explain to me about the painting. Thanks again for the input. Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted April 17, 2008 Your friend in Columbia will probably be able to explain you about the signification of the breaking of the bread, I have to warn you that if she is very religious, she may not like the association I made with your serie of photos. It is not important that you don't know of these paintings: For me that is precisely the power of your photos : they are so human, that we can all relate to them, seeing our own humanity whatever our cultures knowledge or faith.here are a few links about some of the paintings depicting the last supper :Leonardo Da VinciJacopo BassanoCarl BlochBestlaurent Link to comment

myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted August 23, 2008 I am just reading again your commentary again. I regret that I did not yet go the the links. Now I am reminded to do so. The only thing that I know about your painting, and now I recall, is that probably it depicts a Passover Seder. Link to comment
