3-Toed Sloth

Wildlife's not my forte and especially in wet, dark rainforests but

this guy was too cute not to share...

We went to costa Rica in October and I got a picture of one of these things too although mine is from much further away. I thought the one I saw was creepy but must admit yours is kind of cute. What part of Costa Rica were you in? We were in Dominical.

Hi Amy, it was in Cahuita National Park on the Caribbean side. We were in Dominical too, there are some photos in my Costa Rica folder from there, particularly of one of the best sunsets I've ever seen.

One of the best sloth images I have yet seen. Was this a wild animal or in some sort of park/zoo?

This was actually in the wild and a very exciting encounter indeed. It was right by the side of a trail in a national park and for a while my wife and I were the only ones there. We got within a few meters of it. Then another group of hikers came up the trail, making a lot of noise, and the sloth slowly climbed up a tree and into the canopy. His little trip took quite a few minutes and he lived up to his reputation.
