M-curve...? Hmm... I think I'll take a look at it. Good to see people trying to find out new ways of showing theirs shots.

I find this very interesting, but there's some disturbing things about it...

1.- The trees are cut by the middle.

2.- The top of the towers have a problem at the edges,

3.- The caro on the foregrounds have a detailess "shadows" near the floor.

All of this could be corrected with some more hours on PS, I think it deserve a try, IMHO.

I like the colors very much, but not the subject's composition, to be honest...

There are really beautiful pieces in this image... Ma favorite is the second and third car on the right side. With the effect, they turn to be really outstanding. I wish ou could have shot an abstract close-up of the back of these 2 cars. Possibly in a panoramic, including the water in the center of the shot behind them. You could maybe crop that portion out, still, and upload the result...

Then, the house is of course interesting in itself but not great with this angle.

Finally, if I look at the whole image, I see 5 parts. 1) Sky. 2) House. 3) Water. 4) Cars left. 5) Cars right. And all this is overlapping, and running a bit everywhere around the frame. As a result, a) the image looks flat (overlaps) b) My eye can't decide where to look...

By showing too many things, in the end, I see too many things, and nothing specifically...

If you take for example just a bit of the water from the left side, as well as the cars left and the part of the house behind these left cars, and a bit (not all) of the sky above the house, and if you frame only this in a vertical composition, you've got imo another very good shot.

Basically, you have to good pictures in one average picture. Are your cisors ready for your 2 next uploads ? :-) Regards.

First reaction:

As I understand it, the basis for this is a photo; then it was pastelizized in some fashion using photoshop.

Could I upload a picture of an oil painting made from a photo here, too?

As a photo this rates: does not apply/does not apply, right?

Update a few days later:

When I was done, I realized that I had seen such unnatural colors, pictures around where I live, when the mall's empty stalls fill up with "country art" stores before Christmas: They sell such pictures, done cheaply and kitschy in acrylic; for decorations fit to be hung in a mobile home; trailers; that kind of art over the couch of c potatoes ....

I also recalled that you might want to check out Maurice Utrillo. He does (did?) Paris genre scenes, streets, awnings, a bit off color, ... maybe 50 years ago. Go to Europe and any museum worth its salt has a couple. Famous painter. So you are not alone, by no means, but this is not photography; not drawn by light, but by the brush (and mouse) of photoshop ...

It may appeal to some, to others it is just plain kitsch; choose your trailer, so to say.
