aginbyte 0 Posted February 4, 2008 ... what a wonderful and unique shot, Laurent. I love the choice of the shot out over the tidal flats, but the kid in the foreground maks it perfect. Is tentative body position looking out over the edge says it all. This shot works on lots of levels, congratulations. Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted February 4, 2008 The abstract feeling of all the different shades of grey in the sand is working really well, and the lighting on the little man and the architecture gives a perfect contrast. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 4, 2008 Laurent, very well composed ! the backlight, the in /out differences of light and form and the child are creating a perfect moment in time. Simply beautiful ! Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 4, 2008 Dennis, it is Mont St Michel. I knew you would recognise the place. Mont St Michel was our Sunday promenade with the kids yesterday. Laurent, thanks a lot, glad you like it. Pnina, thank you. I wasn't sure about the effect, but I finally blown out the sky to emphasize contrast between earth and sky. Glad you like it. Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 4, 2008 The picture is beautifully composed with a great sense of space opening up before the boy (and the viewer). Personally, I don't really care for the borders which I think are unnecessary and take too much attention from the pictures themselves. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 5, 2008 Laurent, about the border I agree with Jack, but writing this comment the border is not seen and it is much better, you can change the original one, do you know how? Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 5, 2008 Jack, Pnina, thank you. Here's a replacement with the white borders I've always used. Just wanted to try something else for a change, you know... Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted February 5, 2008 ... "Careful, don't go too near the edge!" What was going on in his little-boy mind, do you think? Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 6, 2008 Dennis, actually the big glass window didn't impress my kids too much, you know how kids are! But it's quite an experience to think of the height at which the cloister was built and admire the wonderful view one has from there. Popeye, thank you very much. Really nice having your visit, I'm glad you like it. I like your work very much and value your opinion. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 6, 2008 Looks like I'm a bit late to the party here, but it is a wondrous image. As has been said, the child is central to the success of this one. Beautiful tones and composition. Link to comment

laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 7, 2008 Joe, thanks for your kind and encouraging words. Much appreciated. I was very much impressed by your last posts. The dancing couple is already among my all-time favorites. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted February 8, 2008 Absolutely fantastic. The slight angle adds a slight edge of drama. Too close!! The gray expanse below is so interesting. Almost like jumping off into an abstract painting. I like the white borders better than the black because as Jack mentioned the black competes. Great work. Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted February 12, 2008 Wonderful execution of space and scale with the emotive story I get from the boy in a big world. Link to comment
