I like them both Mike, but this one to me is a better composition and exposure. The detail is very good and i like the way the sky and water merge.

Hi Mike. I like this b/w image. Can you do something with the sky at the left upper part, to correct the over exposure?( On my screen. ) It is a nice image other wise.

Aloha Mike, this is a wonderful B&W. I am not getting the over exposure Bela is seeing. I am seeing some detail in that area.(on my screen) Anyway, nice photograph. Nice b&w conversion. Very nice composition.....

Thanks for the comment. It was a very grey day that day with a threat of further snow in the sky. I spent several hours walking that day and was was fortunate enough to turn around and look behind me.

The sun was attempting to make an appearance at the time of the photo. It was shot in RAW format. I could expose for the sky in one shot and expose for the land in another and could overlay the layers in Photoshop. I would however lose some of the detail in the remainder of the sky. Alternatively, I could simply burn the area in question to darken that particular area.

There is a slightly higher area of exposure in the area just above the trees in the background to the left of centre. The conversion was completed in the RAW converter in Photoshop CS3.
