dberryhill 3 Posted February 2, 2008 It is a great portrait. I might tone down his left hand a bit. It seems to pull my eye away from his marvelous face. Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted February 4, 2008 Thank you very much for your time. As for the hand ... When I asked the gentleman if he would agree to pose for a photo, I asked him to be himself and not to look in the camera. I took the shot, and I thanks him. After that is when he offered a toast, and my camera not beeing to close to my eye anymore, I shot a second picture. This one. The first idea was for me to actually close up more on the face, but then I discovered that this shot was the best of the two, and the most interesting. Unfortunately we didn't spoke much and I don't know anything from him. His face and his eyes really are speaking a lot, but looking at the shot when on post, I noticed the hand which looks like a statement, the ring especially beeing an important part of the story, and I think it that its attraction is for me what makes the photo even more powerfull. nichroe 0 Posted February 5, 2008 Yes Laurent this is a fine picture, and then dot. But,,the person is too much aware,,U have made him to an actor. H. C.-Bresson,,rue Mouffetard,,The boy with two bottles,,,that is maybe a half-setup,,but probably shot seconds before the boy realized that now he is an actor,,(or in the very moment),,more than just himself,,the idendity remains,,,the accidental/coincidence of life talks,,in capitals,,, re niels Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted February 5, 2008 Thank you very much for your feedback, and yes I undertand perfectly what you are saying. But the fact is, that it is in a way an unexpected photo. As I explained just above, the first shot, which is the one I was really thinking about, actually "look" more "accidental". But then, It is after I gave a little fee to the gentleman for his time as a model, that he offered me a toast, and this is when I took this second photo, which was unexpected by both of us, and comparing the two, not only did I find this one more powerfull ( seen larger, I just personaly can't help but look in his eyes for a long time ), but it feels, for me at least, that the man really is offering this toast to us all, not only just my little self. I may upload the first photo if one day I feel like it, eventhough I usually am more of a "one shot" guy. Link to comment
