pgaiger 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Hello all. I have been dabbling in photography for quite some time, and have just recently become a member at photo.net. The shots and critiques are inspiring, and get me even more excited about my hobby. These animals are beautiful, and I was able to approach a herd of about 25 of them. This particular shot is of the oldest male in the group, and in all I must have taken about 75 photographs. Any thoughts, suggestions or critiques would be very welcome. Thanks in advance. thadley 15 Posted January 30, 2008 Welcome to PN. Animal images are not my area of expertise but this seems to be a very fine image. I like the earth tones, the clarity and placement of the animal. The background gives you a sense of the environment without distracting form the main subject. Link to comment
bigsquashbuggy 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Welcome to photo.net. Nice capture of a Big Horned Sheep. Generally for wildlife shots you want to avoid centering your subject too much. It can yield a result that is too static. I think you did well here - but think about different compositions as well - off centre. If you're not familiar with it, you can look up the Rule of Thirds (I think it really should be called the Suggestion of Thirds - and of course some rules are meant to be broken at times). Do post some more shots. Link to comment
cphilpott 0 Posted January 30, 2008 I also extend a welcome. Please keep posting. Your focus on the animal is impressive, the depth of field is also excellent. Keep it up. Link to comment
safehaven 0 Posted January 30, 2008 I like the way you brought the animal out of the background and it is tack sharp indeed. Maybe next time you could fill the frame with more of it's face, or use the magnificent horns as a "Frame". Br, Kris Link to comment
