This one was taken from a spot away from the house especially designed for this purpose. It is also the last photo I took of the house that day.

I would love some constructive criticism for this shot I took while

out at Falling Water this late last year. I used a Nikon D40 with the

kit lens. I have just recently started into this hobby having picked

up the camera just after Thanksgiving. I think I should maybe crop out

the lower portion of the pic. Thanks.

Marshall, I do like the pic, and the house. I personally wouldn't worry about cropping the bottom area, to me it gives the water and pic a "stopping point"...it frames the bottom. Could use a bit more saturation and warmth though. Nice shot.

JMHO:

I like the composition.

I agree with Dave, in that you could play with the colors and temps to make it a bit warmer.

I would also suggest cropping in from the top, just a bit. (This may prompt some "head room" comments...) and a longer exposure, allowing for a better effect with the running water.

I know this house...I think...Frank Lloyd Wright?

I don't think cropping off some of the bottom would hurt. I think it would clean it up a bit. I do agree that you could boost the saturation to give it a warmer feel. However, it's a great capture of a great icon. I think you should make and keep it the way you like it. It's your work and you've obviously got an eye for it.

Hi, Your composition on this shot is very good, I just find it lacks contrast in the color tones, I don't know if you have Photoshop, but a bit of twikking in the Hue and saturation would help the colors a lot.

I agree that the picture is good composition that could use stronger color saturation but - it being winter and not autumn - there's just so much you can do. How about the other direction: desaturation. Here's a retouch in PS Elements that took about 10 minutes; levels, saturation, contrast, and crop. One more idea for your next visit: slow shutter speed to gauze the water. -- cacj

HI, Very nice in B&W, almost an Ansel Adam photo...LOL!!! Seriously, well done, what a difference from color to B&W, and if this shot would have had a longer exposure, then as you suggest, we would have movement in the water and a different photo of a very well known piece of architecture.

Cheers, Francois S.
