Starting the image with the "unlucky" #13 huh... I like how the knobs aren't uniform... Only thing that bothers me is the slight blur toward the top of machine #13. Otherwise I dig the depth of the image. Kudos!

Why is it we remain so fascinated with laundromats? Maybe it's because there's something about them both institutional - all stainless steel, heavy glass and glistening baked enamel with colorful buttons to be pushed and dials to be set; and intensely personal - my underware spinning around for all to see. Ah, the cycles of life!

John: thanks for the nice comment and your sincere opinion. Cheers.

Jack: LOL! You're fit as a fiddle tonight (or is it morning in Osaka?) Well, I know I'm not being very original here, but I didn't know what to shoot and hadn't done Laundries before. I couldn't resist all the white and the serials.

Very interesting composition,Laurent. Being a dull boy, I did not like geometry in school, especially the theorems. It is Jack, who made me interested in enjoying beauties in curves, lines and circles. I like this image.

i used to love laundromats....the hum and rumble of the machines...the warmth generated by the dryers...i used to find them a great place to write...now i own my own machines. its not even close, but it is awfully convenient. most i have been are not exactly sparkling like this one.

The laundromat (washeteria in Texas) is a great sociological experiment. It's mesmerizing to watch one's and others' grubbies and intimates rise and fall into one another. I like the polished quality to this picture, as if these are soldiers called to attention.

It looks so spit polished and squeaky clean. Shiny and pleasant. I suppose in a way those portholes show us more than the ones on the QE II. Though the latter might be a more pleasant experience.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. As you can see, I wasn't trying to be original as there have already been thousands of pictures of laundromats taken in the history of photography, but I liked the looks of the place with all the white and the red lines on the wall in the background.

Laurent, beside the image, I found your comment above very interesting.

I am always skeptical about originality as a 1st quality to be search for...a speaking image, something that let the viewer enjoy and imagine is much more important for me than originality...we are all bombarded by image everywhere (here, TV, street, ads, news, books, etc, etc...)...for me, more and more the most important about an image is feeling, a kind of personal approach and some authenticity...qualities a lot of your image have...

Thanks a lot, Laurent. Of course you're right. I didn't think it should absolutely be a picture's first quality. it's just that the laundromat looks like such a Pop Art icon. Difficult to be refreshing here.
