Colorado: East Face Gore Range: Coal Seam Fire Smoke Blowing Over the Peaks

This is the kind of shot I am always trying to take but can never get to come out right. Thanks for the inspiration.

Very effctive use of stormy colours. Taken at just at the right moment.

The sky is great. With the foreground mountains almost in silhoutte, the image is powerful.

You are quite correct. This image was exposed for the highlights of the sky. Unfortunately, unless I wanted to combine two exposures, the mountains had to go dark. I didn't feel that it was worth the time to bring the mountains up in value as I actually prefer this look of silhouettes against the sky. I made dozens of exposures and this is my favorite, underexposed mountains notwithstanding. Thanks for your comments.
