it's a wonderful picture. to answer your question from January 2008 - a composite picture is a single picture composed from (made from) many elements. ie: this could be made from a collection of horse and rider images put together into one image and along with a dynamic sky from another day, another place... etc. My thinking is the comment arose because this image is just so perfect in every way.
