jeffl7 0 Posted January 7, 2008 I've visited your portfolio several times, usually after reading some of your hilarious exchanges with Jack, but I don't recall whether I actually left a comment or not. If I didn't, shame on me. Many of the photos on PN are bland and relatively personality-free. Not yours. Every photo has your fingerprints, this being no exception. Without waxing too poetic, I think of drowsy laughter with your shots. I like the simplicity you've captured here with the cat turning away, staring at a little patch of wildness in an otherwise manicured world. Link to comment
Julie H 312 Posted January 7, 2008 Dan, It will probably seem strange to you, but what I like best about this picture is the dropped-out black "V" made by the shadow under the bushes on the left and the black area under the second step. Combined with the placement of the white cat and the direction of her body and gaze -- and further promoted by the angle of the house. Simple, clean and beautiful. -Julie Link to comment
dankapsner 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Jeff, I appreciate your thoughtful comments. Jack is a wonderful photographer with an adventurous eye, and as you point out his wit and good sense make him an excellent correspondent. Julie, I had not seen your work till recently--very intriguing. As for the strangeness of your response to the photo, responding to what you see doesn't strike me as odd at all. Thank you both for visiting. I wish you the best, Dan Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 10, 2008 First off, thanks for your nice comment on my parking lot picture. I feel it's time to take a little sabatical from p.net as far as posting new work, but no sabatical from slicing and dicing your pictures. Kind of puts me in the catbird's seat. Glad to see that Jeff stopped by and commented (quite aptly, too) about your work. His words mirror my own thoughts exactly which is why I have been - and will remain - a frequent visitor. Regards, Jack. ps: just because I am taking a well-deserved break doesn't mean you can too. More pictures! pps: Talk about a fat cat! Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 24, 2008 I have to view old pictures because you have so few new ones. This one still gets me. I think of it as Still Life With Fat Cat. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted October 1, 2009 Seemingly as wonderful as "American Gothic." Perhaps more subtle. Link to comment
