peterneibert 0 Posted September 6, 2002 Best picture of the bridge since Frank Stella's. Thankyou. Link to comment

alex marsaud 0 Posted October 22, 2002 I'm not totally satisfied w/ the fact that I couldn't achieve a perfect symetry, which I think would work great on this one. Plus the bottom part (far buildings) seems to be better left out of the shot. Also, maybe too harsh a lighting on the arch? Link to comment
kkwan 0 Posted October 22, 2002 Strong perspective with a nice three-dimensional feel. The horizontal cable at the top is a mild distraction though. I'd crop it out. Well-seen. Link to comment
michael_ward1 0 Posted October 22, 2002 Alex, This is an excellent shot of the bridge, but I think you're right that it would be even better if the symmetry were perfect. The lighting can be handled with levels, and I think a bit of unsharp mask would help. Just because I'm bored tonight - the champs are travelling, so no baseball tonight - I took a shot at seeing what this would look like with the perspective distortion removed. I also did levels, unsharp mask, and cropped so that the right cable hit the corner. Frankly, I don't think it's anywhere near as good as your original, but it's interesting. Michael Link to comment
kkwan 0 Posted October 22, 2002 Michael beat me to it. But I'll post my version anyway. This is what I did:1) Marqueed the entire area and transformed (skew) to make the bridge straight (pulled bottom left down).2) Square marqueed the top and skewed to make the cables straight (pulled top right corner to right).3) Brought down the levels.4) Selected colour range on the bright part of the bridge and brought down levels.5) Used colour balance to get rid of slight cyan cast.6) Added bit of USM. fred_j._lord 0 Posted October 22, 2002 I'll go with Kenneth's version as I just felt it needed a bit of tweaking to come right. The concept was great, just a bit of finishing needed. Keep shooting, Alex! A really nice idea! Link to comment
alex marsaud 0 Posted October 24, 2002 Jim, it's the 1st time I post this one... Thanks all 4 your input. Michael and Kenneth, it's when I see other people's modified versions that I see better my pictures. Cheers 4 sharing. On this one, I think Kenneth's version renders better than mine, but the original is closer to the way it was during this blinding-sun day. That's why I stuck to it. Link to comment
