susan stone 0 Posted January 2, 2008 This is another of those accidents that I think is a "strong" image. I hadn't used my Canon camera for a long while, too busy playing with the new P&S, and I was surprised to find some older images still on the card, especially this one as I haven't a clue how it came to be. I would appreciate suggestions for a fitting title....gracias. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 2, 2008 Well, since you don't have a clue about how this image came about, how about, "Accidents Happen?" I think that has a nice double meaning. Or, maybe, "Birth During Earthquake?" Link to comment
lptem 0 Posted January 2, 2008 Ghost Baby? I like the Image...way interesting. lauren Link to comment
teresa.zafon 0 Posted January 2, 2008 I like this one a lot and I too think about a ghost looking at this. Happy New Year! Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted January 2, 2008 Bouncing off of David's babydoll picture, perhaps "Rapture"? Cool and creepy. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 2, 2008 I guess I'm just a incurable pessimist, but I was thinking more like, "Rosemary's Baby." Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Nothing is really "ringing my bell" yet for a title, it's such an eerie image to me that I want an "otherworldly" title and I'm a sucker for cliches so I keep thinking about "Twilight Zone"....what think you all?! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 3, 2008 Sorry, girl. Not nearly esoteric or enigmatic for my taste. But then, you knew that..... Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 3, 2008 But "Rosemary's Baby"........? Try harder David. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 3, 2008 Hey, that wasn't my first choice. I gave you a couple of others. Okay, here's one more and I quit, "The Wages Of Sin." Has a kinda nice ring to it, no? Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 3, 2008 Susan, it is again the poor doll, but the blur helps to hide her shuttered existence, so for me it is a compatible name.... Good result ! Happy 2008. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 4, 2008 Still a no go David, to me the title is part of the composition and often helps tell a story, but nothing's working on this "baby". Yes Pnina, it's that poor shattered doll, the funny thing is I don't remember trying to take this photo, it's purely accidental, maybe that's why I can't come up with a suitable title. Happy New Year, hope it's full of more great adventures. Link to comment
timkeller 0 Posted January 5, 2008 "First Glimpse of the World." Or, "The Discovery of the New World." Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted January 5, 2008 Shaken into Reality.... Shaken Baby Syndrome... Come on Baby....let's do the twist~ It is really a very haunting shot... "A glimpse of my youth...." J Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 6, 2008 I appreciate everyone's suggestions for a title, it's funny that usually I have a title before I even get an image edited but nothing seems to fit this. It's a haunting image and the distortion in front of the face reminds me of the exhaling of a breath and I keep thinking there's a title within that parameter.....? Still thinking. "Shuddered and Shaken"? Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted January 7, 2008 Breathing Rapture Breathing In Rapture The Breath of Rapture Look what you have done to me Susan, it's like not being able to stop hearing a song in your head...you know what I mean? Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 7, 2008 We're playing PN tag.....yes I know what you mean. I don't think there's anything rapturous about this poor doll, something more morbid perhaps. Link to comment
janisok 0 Posted January 7, 2008 I blame my mother!! I showed her the shot and SHE said rapture. OK, i feel better. J Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted January 8, 2008 OK -- now you're starting to scare me ! I thought I was a bit disturbed until I fell in with this crowd :) , blurry phantom babies , amputated mutant limbed babies, and then there's David's decapitated bald cabbage baby. But seriously you know I'm going to like this one. The elements beyond the doll figure add much to the shot. My eyes sees the object in the BLC as coiled rope which only makes this somehow more disturbing since I now have 'Blurry Phantom Bondage Baby' on the brain. I has a bit of a ring to it, if you say it in a sing song sort of way. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted January 9, 2008 As I'm sure you've observed Gordon, most of my photography is pretty straight forward and usually not "complicated" (I'm thinking boring), but occasionally I accidently record something that resonates with the hidden side of my psyche. The doll here, is sitting on an old couch at an old homestead, I had brought her with me with the intent to try and record a "story" about the doll's abandonment but I got caught up in another project and must of fired the Canon while trying to make some adjustments in side the dark building and voila.....the title STILL hasn't seeped into my brain.
