Mike Marcotte 50,229 Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks for that, now I have another lame excuse to open another cocktail. More of the hair... Link to comment

susan stone 0 Posted January 2, 2008 .....where in the Hell is the rest of my body.....and it stinks up here, like cooked cabbage. Someone call the "Doll Doctor", and close my eyes, and kiss my sweetly puckered lips one last time. I love first reactions to an image. Boy have you got "cajones" David, admitting you wanted a doll, you just grew a foot higher in my estimation. 2008 will continue to see you take the "out of the box" route with your imagery, I'm gald I'll get to witness the progression. susan stone 0 Posted January 2, 2008 Oh, I think I'll post another "doll" image too, thanks for the inspiration. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks. But we don't have to tell that doll story to the whole freaking world do we? I mean that was just kind of a guy story for Jack. What are you and Mr. Shawhan working up for dates? Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted January 2, 2008 A brilliant visual allusion, amigo! You can't sidetrack me with trick stories about Santa and dolls. I know the secret code hidden in this image. Allow me to explain by quoting a cookbook: "The beautiful Jean Becu, Comtesse Du Barry was guillotined in 1793, a sad end for a beautiful woman who began as an illegitimate seamstress and rose to enjoy a powerful and extravagant life as the last mistress of Louis XV. "Her name has become associated with a number of dishes based on cauliflower. Why cauliflower and Mme. Du Barry? Perhaps the white cauliflower suggested her fine pale skin, or powdered wig, or the complicated design of the wig itself? Perhaps it is the sheer, velvety voluptuousness of the Mornay sauce that is a traditional part of the garnish 'a la du Barry'?" Dave, you sly fox! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 2, 2008 I should have known I could never fool a preeminently literate old newpaperman. I feel so exposed! Thanks for the laugh. Link to comment
cjtj50 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Rosemary's baby? Ha, just kidding. I like this it's sort of like a modern victorian photo! Good work! Take care Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 3, 2008 You made me laugh! what a nice culinary association to David's doll... ;-)) Good start of my day.... Link to comment
janusz1 0 Posted January 3, 2008 It is amazing how with such a simple means you were able to approximate the universal idea of Heaven... :) The "physical" comfort, and most importantly the annihilation of the earthly past, so we - the forgiven angels :) - can once again have this innocent look in our eyes. ps. thank you for commenting on my photo :) Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted January 4, 2008 It's strange how dolls (or more precisely Doll parts) can be frightning when placed out of context...I like the colors and tone ....and this look quite intrusive and interrogative....brrrrr.... Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 4, 2008 I think from our previous exchanges, that you know I would not quite agree with your interpretation of this image. But not a problem. As I stated somewhere else, I enjoy the different meanings that different individuals derive from the same view. And thank you for your view and comment. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 4, 2008 Nice to have you back. And an interesting observation about dolls. They sure can be ambivalent in their meanings. And, again as you stated, when they are broken and presented in pieces or some other form of mutilation, they seem much more frightening. Yet, just like human babies, when they start out they are objects of love and affection. Perhaps the doll takes on some meaning as representative of humans, and most humans do not wish to see those who are less than perfect or whole. Link to comment
janusz1 0 Posted January 5, 2008 I am not trying to guess your mind (if I could do that I would most likely change profession):)... just my impressions based on art that I see :) Link to comment
dasharv 0 Posted January 6, 2008 It looks contrasting image to me... nice colors and compositions but... I fine it scaring! This "dead" head on the tender petals... Oh my god! Congrats! Great work! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 7, 2008 Nice to hear from you. We have not had much interaction for quite some time. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for looking. Do not be frightened. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted January 8, 2008 i have looked at this one over andover, but still don't quite know what to make of it....but i do keep coming back to it, so there is something compelling about it. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted January 8, 2008 Well, when I get a little more famous I will start putting a limit on views of my images, but for now, I'm letting you have as many looks as you want. LOL Thanks for finding it interesting. I suspect I over processed it trying to do "cool" things, but out of the camera tack sharp just didn't work for me. I felt some ethereal treatment was needed. Don't know if I accomplished what I wanted, but I'm pleased you and some others have found it of interest. Take care. Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted January 18, 2008 I trust that that means you like it. Thanks for cruising through my portfolio today. I can see you have covered a lot of the portfolio, and, therefore, a bit of the American countryside (at least as seen through my warped vision). Link to comment
