... like you once again succeeded in giving colorful life to a strong momochrome composition. Many of your images are true archetypes of good photography to me. PS: happy new Year!!! :-)))

Thank you both for your time spent on commenting my work.

Linda,

On this photo you see the framework of a terrace (the awning removed) belonging to a Bar&Cafe partly seen on the BG to the right. This place used to be a long distance buss station and now kinda open-air livingroom partly occupied by these terraces (also seen on my Xmas series). All this in the very heart of Helsinki City. Calling this for oasis was just my try to be poetic...

Wolfgang,

I feel myself honored as a working professional like you calls this for archetype. On the other hand I remember the first days here at PhotoNet as I found your portfolio and felt we were kinda soul mates. You certainly have a wider repertoire of subjects you are covering, but there are overlapping as well.

Talking about the colors: already back in film days I did enjoy the rendering of artificial street lights on tungsten film (my 4x5" photos especially). The same goes to these digital captures. The yellow-orange cast by low pressure sodium lamps do create nice effect as one picks the neutral color with eyedropper for White Balance correction, here on the rimmed board floor. You see the spectrum on the cast shadows on the floor. Nice indeed.

Very strong lines and composition. This colour corrected version does have a " frosty " feeling to it. The great combination of symmetry and asymmetry between the poles and shadows makes for an uneasy tension. You have a good eye for these type of edgy compositions. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for dropping by again. Be sure I was thrilled as this kind of night seems to be a rarity: no snow but rim, without it not this graphic, so to say. And the 24mm WA is a must have...
