The B&W/"Grainy" combination works well for me. Your lady does her thing for the camera w/ATTITUDE! Nothing studied or contrived in what she puts out here.Style...It's a clean shot and the hair placement adds a sensual kind of bedroom look. You should feel good about strutting this pic out and if it were mine I wouldn't give a sh** what anybody else thought of it, Right!?!

Drop the uncut version my way if you like...might be interesting.

Hi, it looks very nice. Saw the original picture and I think the cropped version says much more. I also find something romantic in this picture. I do think the added noise helped to create this feeling.

This would really "sing" to me, except the lighting ( lack of ... ) completely destroys it for me. Your lighting takes out all the punch!

Nothing really happens in this picture, in fact... We can imagine what's happening, but we can't tell for sure, and in the end, it doesn't really catch my interest. Aesthetically, I think the grain was a good choice, but a lot less light would at least have helped to enhance the mystery. As it is, nothing is really enhanced, and we are left looking for a clue. Regards.

Comments of a lack of lighting and artificial grain confuse me. The lighting is great and exists in a beautifully textured way. And as fgar as I know, grain is grain, you just can't fake it. Sure you can do it digitally or with film, but either way, it's still grain. Why does it matter how the grain was applied? If the overall image works then why worry about the details?

 

I think this shot is more powerful than the uncropped version but then I'm a big fan of tight, in-your-face shots.

Much more impact when it is cropped this way.

I'm a little curious as to how you got all that grain out of a Pan F neg. Either this is a very small crop, or you overcooked it in Rodinol. Though all the Pan F I've ever dev'd in Rodinol was nowhere near this grainy.

The grain is a result of a little Photoshop loving. The original picture has the lack of grain that you would expect from Pan F. By the way, thank you everybody for your comments, even those of you that didnt like it. It really does help.

This is great. Lighting is fine, graininess is good. Great vigor and emotion in the model's position and expression. The cropped version is definitely the better of the two. Nicely done!

I like the hair and the pose. Well-constructed shot. Works better in this cropped fashion, although I'm not a fan of artificial noise/grain.
