Rushhour in Sofia, Bulgaria

You may laugh but it was not easy to get her in focus, she was quite moving fast!

What a good capture! I like the whole composition, shoe and all--it's like a footrace. I know the kind of work that goes into this kind of shot, and I bet you're telling the truth when you say it really wasn't easy.

If the snail would be sharp, if this would be in B&W - colors do nothing here - with heavy burning top left area, this would have a message, and possibly end up being quite powerful... You might want to give it a try in PS - be it just to visualize what I meant... Regards.

Î am very happy to find people like Marc here on photo.net who share their experience and give an honest and constructive critique. This is how it works!

Ah, and: just to see what happens I went back to photoshop a little with the snail! Have to say I like it.

B&W? hmpf! Color IMHO adds so much realism to this wonderfully odd photo. Excellent image! I keep wondering if it has been altered but the blown out highlights hint to the limits of film/wet darkroom photography. You might burn in or rubber stamp the highlights or you might add a completly alien sky. I would leave it as is {maybe a little burning on the left}. Truely a found real sceen where the photograhers vision and skill is clearly tested.

The focus is a little fuzzy on the snail. What a creative photo overall. I see these suggestions about using photoshop to alter this photograph here and there, but I don't agree. The blown out upper corner provides the contrast to really make the snail pop. No pun intended.

The shoe in the background gives this image a great balance that could mean several different things. Are they racing? Is he going to step on the snail? I love the angle.

I can see how this could work as monochrome, but I'm not sure how that would affect the impact of the snail. I would just slightly adjust the backlighting, but otherwise I think this one is terrific.

I definitely like it better in color. While I agree that the DOF is just a little shallow, I would still count this as a successful shot. Great job!

Firts i thought i'd like it a lot in B&W....but when i saw it in B&w i realized that Rafael is right....this pic does not need any adjustments in colors...it's simply CREATIVE.

I like it. The colour of the snail helps make it stand out, especially the shell. I would like to see more depth of field so that all of the snail is in sharp focus (really notice that the front is not in focus when viewing it at max size). I might have focused at the nose and let the shell be a bit blurry if I couldn't get greater depth. Bet your knees got really wet taking this one! Nicely composed.

Hehe, I love this photo! Amazing detail in the snail, first off. I like how the foot is positioned in the background, it adds an interesting sense of scale to the photo. I'm not sure if I like the B&W one better than the original..

I love this! There's a sense of humour to it, and besides, I've always been fond of snails. If only you could have had the snail's head a little more in focus. But otherwise, it's a wonderful photo.

as an old timer raised on photography before color was common, I must say this snail loses its appeal completely in black and white. In color it is a 7 / 7.

You are right - this is what (at least for me) photo.net is - The B&W version is much much better!!! AND (Marc!) I did not think on this - Yes color adds nothing here... Focus - mhhh difficult... I can assume that she really moves quick, and you don't want her to stick back in the house.

I like in color. The warm tonalities of the speedy subject really stand out in the context. This remember of our fragility.

the warmth and fragility of life and the coldness of the menacing shoe. love it.the fact it was made in Sofia makes me like it even more =)
