This strikes me as quite a departure from the normal Juassi fare. And a fine departure it is. I'm not a huge fan of flora shots, but the colors and the abstract style you've used here are stunning and I'm willing to be won over. Very nicely seen and captured.

Thanks David...I totally understand your point...you know I am usually not a flower image guy either, but the lateral light on this leaf together with its color stroke me and I had to take it's portrait...wether others might find it interesting I don't know and leave it open....

Beautiful composition, Laurent. The forms and colors of the leaves are great. Excellent use of light and shadows. Good shot!

...to quote Joseph Campbell. The emphasis is on YOUR bliss, not OTHERS' bliss. I'm becoming more and more convinced that when you take pictures to please other people, the images are others' vision not yours. The light here is thrilling as it filters through the leaves. Your thrill becomes the viewer's thrill. I don't think it works in reverse.

I agree with David that this isn't your regular fare. Congratulations! There are so many people who take the same photo over and over. You seem to cast your nets wide, capturing varied subject matter. People, boats, kids, street scenes, playgrounds, and now leaves. All with your own particular stamp.

It's good to depart from the expectations of others every now and again. It's good for the artist and good for the viewer. It's very easy to fence off a piece of creative real estate as our very own but what we lay claim to lays claim to us as well and those borders are the very things that we must go beyond.
