Had to get a good focus with a telephoto and that kind of speed. I used PS to sharpen.

Is there any artistic appeal to a shot like this? Or is it purely

journalistic?

Can't see much artistic value I'm afraid. There is potential coming from the (quasi hallucinogenic) Orange signs. It must be very difficult to get Formula pics for the reasons you point out. If only one could get a shot from within the car ;)

It's Ralf! The trick is to pre-focus on the spot where you know the car's going to be, pan with the car, smoothly squeeze off the shot at the proper moment, and follow-through. And it takes lots of practice. Nicely composed except for the background (the Orange ads are rather distracting), and more background blur (by using a slower shutter speed) would be nice, as would more sharpness. But a decent effort. Journalistic and artistic aren't mutually-exclusive. See Darren Heath's work, for example.

Great shot in terms of the focus although I would like a little more light to enter the shot.

I would also like to suggest a wider aperture to blur out the background.

It is one of the better shots of this area of interest.

Too much of the car again. It looks like it's sitting on the track, where's it going. You need to give the car a place to go, a sense of direction.

What about cropping just to the right of the guy standing in the background and right below the orange sign? Get in there tight.

as far as art v. journalism, i question that myself. i'm more inclined to say the latter, but definitely have seen some F1 shots that could qualify as art.

as far as this shot goes, it's a little too dark for my taste. i agree with previous comment about giving the car room to "go somewhere."

otherwise, great capture.
