mike_stemberg 40 Posted December 5, 2007 category: Street.I hope I have managed to capture the pathos ofthis moment, from this no doubt a beautiful spirit ~ a mother, asister, a wife, an aunt, a friend...? Link to comment
kirk d 0 Posted December 5, 2007 I think you managed well and your black and white has great detail and beautiful tonal range. I think the composition of her on the left side and looking left away from the bulk of the image, which happens to be empty/vacant stairs, helps convey your intentions very well. I'm not a good critic so I can't convey exacty what that means, but I think you did it well. Kirk Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted December 5, 2007 She looks kind of desolate admist the empty space around her. Her facial is not exactly sad, but kind of she has accepted her plight/fate. Presented in B/W of course, gives more impact on what you want to express. Link to comment
graham john miles 0 Posted December 6, 2007 It's funny, I see only boredom and indifference in her expression. Lovely capture though.I would be tempted to crop out a lot of the right side leaving just a small diagonal rail in the corner. For me it would distill the composition and intensify it. But that's just a subjective suggestion. As is it is perfectly correct. Link to comment
rosenborgfoto 0 Posted December 14, 2007 A very special streetphoto that seems so timeless. It always touches my heart when seing people begging in the streets. However this woman looks nicely dressed with an expression of boredom on her face as this is an unimportant daily routine. Maybe she is one who was raised with parents also begging as a normal lifestyle which is why she as a strong healthy woman doesn?t try to do sth. else. Selfafflicted need is also need, but...well really good photo that sets the mind and heart going, Mike:-) Link to comment
davidsevern 0 Posted January 11, 2008 Great capture. Composition is good and you just caught her at the right moment by the looks of it. Link to comment

BelaMolnar 2 Posted May 23, 2010 I would work hard to clone out the rails from the steps. Very nice image, for me, the only problem with the composition, the model sitting at the left close to the frame and looking out to the left, out of the image. As a rule for a god composition, the model has to look in to the image, not out of the image. With cropping and cloning it is easily correctible. IMHO. Cheers; Bela Link to comment
mike_stemberg 40 Posted May 24, 2010 Bela, thank you for you valued input/comment and your example too! Yes, I was deliberately and consciously 'breaking the rules' here. I think it makes for a slightly different 'style' if one can call it that.best wishes ~ mike Link to comment
