for critique, after so many wonderful comments, when it was uploaded some months ago.Hazy sunlight gave this modeling and coloration on the walls and surface-texture,which is impossible to achieve during summer, when the sun blanks out the whites.Shot during Easter 1991,color negative film. Many thanks for your feedback.I'm glad you find my oldies interesting.Emotions here may be stronger than quality, which is not at its best.

"To avoid hangovers, stay drunk".It's my best advice when you spend time there.Feeling a little dizzy leads to better ideas and compos.I wish I could repeat a visit there, soon.CHEERS!

It has quality, and suggests emotions. Whitewash the facade of the home was an annual ritual in many Mediterranean towns. I wll never forget helping my mother to whitewash when i was a child. Congratulations. All the best. Vicente.

I just can`t get enough of these superb chalked Greek houses and that absolutely gorgeous Greek sky! Somehow these have so much character, as if they could tell endless stories of the history and convey the sufferings of the poor people at the mountain villages. Do you have any special name for that special tone of the blue sky? (Like Aegeian blue?) I`d sure love to visit these places at some time. Perhaps we get to travel to Greek with my family, at some day. :-)

With warm greetings from frosty Viitasaari,

Alpo

Whitewash, produced from limestone,is used here primarily for cleaning walls from fungi and insulation from rain.At late spring, when most of the rainfall has stopped,a lot of people are still using this technique for houses and churches.

I'm glad you like the image.

My regards.

The name of this small church is Paraportiani,if you can read Greek!,meaning that the main entrance is not centered,as it happens in most churches.I'm not sure if in this capture the colour of the sky is pure Aegean blue, because usually it's more intense in the summer.I am sure you have got lots to see and capture if you visit my country,as I'm also sure I would find endless beauty in your place, judging by the images you have submitted!

Best regards.PS.Selecting "text,HTML"does not preserve my paragraphs.Any ideas why?

I'm sure you have seen many images of Greece. But there 's a lot more to discover in the mountains, away from the crowds, and tiny villages with friendly people. It's where the real interest and beauty lies.

Many thanks for your support.

Best wishes.
