iancoxleigh 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Thank you all very, very much. For some reason, I was hesitant about the appeal of this one more than the others. Link to comment
rachelfoster 0 Posted December 3, 2007 It's stunning, Ian. I would not have hesitated a nano-second. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Rachel, although I liked the distortion I was concerned others might find the fact that the circular sky-light had been rendered as an oval to be unflattering. I was also conscious that the structure along the LHS made the composition a little left-side heavy. I felt that the strong spotlight on the RHS of the skylight and the overall progression of tonality from bottom RHS to top LHS brought it back into balance while the the structure on the left gave the image a dynamic quality and made the eye move quite fluidly about the space -- but, I was unsure this would be universally received. Lastly, I felt this came closest to imitating the famous David Heald photo of the Guggenheim (HERE); which, although I love it, I was trying to avoid duplicating. Link to comment
rachelfoster 0 Posted December 3, 2007 I'm not familiar with that photo, but I'm coming more and more to the conclusion that I need to go with my gut feelings. This is a lovely photo, and the B&W is perfect. In the shrinkery world they refer to "analysis paralysis." I'm prone to that. Link to comment
