I like it ... black and white has so much emotional power ... The detail in the background ... this man and kid walking together. The soft way the man take this kid by the hand like an invitation to go ahead ... u been able to integrate us into ur pic and make us able to interprete our own story about those 2 humans.

Joseph, This is a great image. It is sentimental to me as I remember when I was little, I was walking with my grandfather to his work to get his paycheck. This picture reminds me of that. You did a GREAT job with the composition and the contrast. BRAVO!

What a touching and sentimental photograph. I really like how you have achieved such a deep level of humanity, showed such a bond between father and and son and done it without any need to show me their faces. This is art on a high level Joe. BTW I really think you have a knack for B&W conversion the tones always seem very crisp and well delineated. The highlight and shadow in the joined hands of the father and son pull me straight to that spot in the image. I might have given the top of his head a tiny bit more space, but hey, you are trying to capture a moment in time with two moving subjects. Congrats on a fine capture.

A truly touching image. The size disparity (a common theme, as you know) is striking, and the postures are marvelous. It's so simple and, yet, so powerful at the same time. I guess it shows that we don't need all the razamadazzle tricks to make a good image. And, yes, your processing is superb.

I have but one simple criterion when I do portraits: I am shooting not an inanimate object, but PEOPLE. Would I like the final image if I was in the shoes of the subject? I think portraiture differs from all other genres because of the simple fact that you have to consider people's feelings. This image, in all its simplicity is one that hits home with all of us. It at once says something simple, yet infinitely universal, a message that is as eloquent and unfettered as the stoop of the old man's shoulders, the spring in the young man's step, the similarity of dress, the syncopation of their steps and shadows, and indeed the very ground they walk on.

I really like this image. A very emotionally comparison here: a child so little, but walking so stable and strong; a father so strong, but leading his son so gentle and careful. I also like composition here - a lot space giving the father, just a little space giving the child, but very well emphasizing the child position...

Great slice-of-life capture. The tenderness and trust show through. I don't know the story, obviously, but I can project a grandson/grandfatherly connection (hey, I'm bias: I have a granson about this little guy's age).

I love the tenderness of the little boy's hand wrapped around his father's finger. How well I remember walking like that with my father.
