Niagara Falls, Ontario, CANADA

My first of two morning at the falls. The natural light shows I witnessed here certainly were

far more impressive than the artificial lights at night.

Canon 5D, 16-35mm 2.8L, Gitzo tripod, polarizing filter, 2 stop hard ND, ISO 100, f22,

shutter 0.8 seconds.

I love everything about this. The subtle colors, the shutter speed for the water action details, and the the sunbeams put it over the top. Excellent image.

7/6 - spectacular view. I have one that I took in the afternoon which I like very much but not as good as yours.

Welcome back. Haven't seen you in a while it seems. Ya know whats cool about this. The rays of the sunlight mirror the flowing water of the falls in opposite directions. Beautiful soft light and this is a unique version indeed.

Wow Kah. You have really out done yourself with this one. If I didn't know your work better, I would have guess this was a composite. Really magical moment. I like the square crop, but can't help to be curious what a wider crop looks like. Hard to believe you shot this with the 16-35mm. I would have guessed this was shot with a longer focal length.

Perhaps one of the most photographed places in the world , I lived there for a few years , and you did get better light than most mornings will give at this location , its tough to find original views as this one is not , but the light is excellent. The last time I was there I saw a complete rainbow /half circle , sometimes you get doubles , they are not always visable at all locations . The water even changes color usally in winter and spring when the snow melts , even goes brown sometimes. A photographers paradise ! But it can be very drab some days when the weather is gray ,etc. This is a very nice shot! Robert

Beautiful work, it's all been said above, but it's worth repeating. You've made it mystical in a different way, fantastic job.

Thanks for all your comments. Robert you are correct, this is not an original view, in fact I doubt there are any left (without going over the falls!). Great lighting of course is the answer to breathing new life into icons like this. I also hoped the squarish format provides a fresh look. I was blessed with great light on all three shoots here, all giving a different feel. Will, as you correctly assessed, this is not a composite. It was shot at 16mm with the right cropped as I didn't like the mist dominating the picture.
