AJHingel 127 Posted October 1, 2007 Low saturation of early morning colours is sometimes the best way of transmitting the mood of the scene. What do you think ? Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 1, 2007 Agree in this case. This has the feeling of a delicate watercolor. That curved cloud or contrail really adds some interest to the sky. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted October 2, 2007 Thanks Jack. It is very fragile and by the way difficult to catch, but I like also like that. By the way Jack I'm going to Hong Kong for some days work. Have you got some experiences to share on good places for people like us, carrying photo equipment. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted October 2, 2007 Anders, I saw this one yesterday, did not have the time.... I liked the nearly monochromatic color palette, and the dreamy atmospher of the whole, with the "surprise " in the sky. Very delicate image, beautifully executed. Link to comment
jefvandenhoute 0 Posted October 2, 2007 The silhouette of the cathedral, dominated by the overwhelming sky - with the curved cloud - make this a strong image. Thanks also for your comments on some of my recent postings. And to answer your question on B/W: yes I work allways with the channel mixer. It allways a graduated tone control trough the different colors of the image Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted October 2, 2007 Thanks Pnina, as you might have noticed I believe that in most cases here on PN we see photos that are over saturated as old Kodak films. This one is the extreme opposite, but in my view respecting the silence of a very early automn morning. Even the birds very sleeping. Thanks also to Jef. It is interesting hat the channel mixer always seem to produce not only strong contrast (using the gradient) but also an impressions of a velvet surface of the photo that is anything but cold. I like very much what you did. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 2, 2007 Sorry, I'm not familiar with Hong Kong but I'm sure you're going to come home with some great shots. Asia is like being at a three ring circus, there's something going on everywhere you look. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted October 3, 2007 Thanks Jack. My experiences from Seoul and Tokyo tell me that you are right. So are your fantastic series of shots from Osaka. I'll surely come back with much to share. Link to comment
