kirk d 0 Posted September 19, 2007 Micki, you did a good job with the framing, I like it. The DOF is good as it makes the bright sky kind of glimmer and the crepe myrtle blooms glow. Kirk Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 19, 2007 I also didn't know what to do with the sky so thought I would double up the sky like this. I have been working with different types of DOF. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted September 19, 2007 I find this a very busy image, the flower for me does not go with the background. I find it hard to view the flower as the brightness of background draws my eye from it. I try and never rate a image by its frame, but must say I like how you have carried your background over and incorperated it in to your frame. Nice image, well done!! Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 19, 2007 I myself LOVED the background almost more than the flower itself with all its sparkles so I thought why not make it a frame. (SMILE) So I take that you like the frame and I do a happy dance. I have been doing a study on light and how DOF works on things so for me this was what this flower represented more than beauty. I am glad you liked the frame ;) Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted September 19, 2007 I love your presentation also! This is pretty! Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 20, 2007 I tried to work with the lights. I'm just glad I know what it is now. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted September 20, 2007 Known in some places as the "Queen of Flowers" taken by the Queen of photography. Lovely Bokeh. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted September 20, 2007 I also like working with light, I wrote a wee piece about it not long a go, have a read and see if it gives you any ideas.http://www.gardenartimages.co.nz/home/Newsletterall the best...................roger Link to comment
bartimeus1 0 Posted September 20, 2007 Somenone wrote something about this being "busy", and got that right. But this is also fine study of light and DoF, as you wrote that those were your main goals. The light helps to lift the flower out from the image. And the frame assists that goal in a great way! Very nice work! Alpo Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 20, 2007 This twig with the flower on it was about 10 feet away from any other plants so it was a great study. I love looking at Niels Work and his study on light. If you have never seen it check it out here. It has taught me alot on how to take pictures and such. Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted September 20, 2007 Micki agree about the busy background BUT I love the BOKEN..... The frame is wonderful, I must remember this idea so I can rob it for a wedding album, HA...Yea its cool.. Ger.. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 20, 2007 I mean like on cards cut and paste. Take a real picture twice and use it in different ways. One as a the back canvas and the other as the picture, of course. What I have done is BLOW UP the picture and take the background as the Canvas (for the border) and then place the picture in the middle. I thought this would work well here. I just couldn't seem to get a frame that worked right and I loved the DOF and wanted it to be darker. Link to comment
terrygilroy 0 Posted September 20, 2007 So delicate, so powerful. I too like the frame. Regards Terry Link to comment
fergi 0 Posted September 20, 2007 What is a frame? Kidding. Nice, sharp, pink blooms on your Crepe Myrtles (I do know what they are, domo). I'm not sure if the yellow pollen on the flowers go with the pink. Good DOF work. Well done, sweetie. ai ni, me Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 20, 2007 AND yes YELLOW and PINK DO go together. You wore those colors in COLLEGE ALL THE TIME ;) he he Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 21, 2007 I'll have a talk with God again about why he has chosen to make silly things like pollen yellow with Pink. :) Thank you both for seeing that I actually got something SHARP for once. It only took about 50 shots. (big smile) It was a good day. Now if only you, Andrew, would let me shoot you. hmmm Link to comment
marlabmarrs 0 Posted October 3, 2007 Pretty, Love the border, and the flower looks like the same type of flower I took a photo of a few weeks ago. ^_^ Link to comment
