leannasreflections 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Theres not much better than a close up of our furry friend. The colors in this are super. My only nitpic is the eyes are a little out of focus. But that doesnt take much away. Its a great image anyway. :O) Link to comment
bigsquashbuggy 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Blurry but who doesn't like a shot of a cute pooch???? Link to comment

mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 18, 2007 Henrik, thank you ~ Yes I think the eyes and ears were more in focus then they look. BUT those silly marbled eyes are hard to tell compared to most eys. Manual focus and learnng such fun ~ wheeeee ;) he he Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Micki, two lovely portraits of your best friend. I prefer this one because her personality comes through so strongly. The focus and background are superb and the expectant expression is all about dogginess. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 18, 2007 I just wanted to capture her being her out where we spend lots of time together. Thinking of you. She is eight and a Rescue Aussie. When it gets cold she walks a bit like she hurts so NOW is the time to enjoy the outside. Your right THIS is her personality. :) ~ Link to comment
dee 14 0 Posted September 18, 2007 You know... I could tell right away that this was taken with your Prime lens. Really nice shot Micki! Very cute Link to comment
snapshooter 0 Posted September 18, 2007 This is a lovely shot, Micki. Great colour, lots of detail and an intense expression. You cropped it a bit too close on the left. Any movement or direction of gaze should have significanly more space in the direction of gaze/movement than is to the rear of the subject matter.Subjects need apparent space to move in the direction they're facing. Generally a two to one ratio. Here's a quick, sloppy clone job to illustrate. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 18, 2007 I might have to RETHINK that crop! hmmm ~ I wish I would have had more room on the side. BUT, I have more ;) Link to comment
JohnMWright 1 Posted September 19, 2007 Woof! Great expression, and I love the light. Have you thought about a merdog? ;-) Link to comment
bartimeus1 0 Posted September 20, 2007 Adorable guy - sorry was she a lady? The focusing has aimed to the the background (to ears, propably), and that is a minor flaw, but the subject itself takes the viewers attention. So, have you enjoyed the new Nikon? :-) Alpo Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 20, 2007 You know me I don't like to take pictures at eye level so I am lying on the ground. I did try focusing on the eye but as you see her eyes are marbled and hard to focus on. Well that and she moves. Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 278 Posted September 27, 2007 The blurred background is good! No depth of field with those larger sensor cameras. I don't know exactly what's the size of it on your new camera Micki, but the digital reflexes (SLRs) have all larger size sensors and the effect of it is lack of DOF! It suits for the neutralizing the details of the background you don't need on the photograph, but it also influences the sharpness of the main object if it isn't exactly a flat one, as in this case. Only the nearest plan is out of focus here, though! It could have been avoided with stopping down to f/11 or even f/16 if needed! It would also sharpen the background, but considering the focus distance it couldn't be that much to destroy the nice blurry effect on it! My daughter was (and still is) very much disappointed with her new Canon 400D because it can never make all over sharp close ups as her previous small sensor digital Nikon! She is blaming the lens for it! The lens is to blame for it, but only the nominal focal length of it, not the optical quality. And a lens with the same focal length even of the L series couldn't do much better if at all! So, the stopping down is the only solution. It sometimes may require (in difficult lighting situations) use of strong flash fill in light, tripod and such! Not easy thing taking pictures with SLRs in spite of all advantages they offer! And about this particular picture - considering all that it's well done! I wrote a "novel" so that you should forget about missing me Micki, ha! Cheers to that! PDE Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted September 28, 2007 DANG DANG DANG HA HA HA I am still playing with my Fstop stuff I bought the NIKON D40X thinking that it would be the best for me. Small and easy and light. :( BUT it doesn't have a autofocus on it so the 50mm doesn't autofocus so I have to manual focus which is what this lens is here. :( So, It is hard to get all the points on her focused at once. I am learning and trying but it will take time on that silly camera (which eventually will go to my teenage daughter or will be my PURSE camera or the camera we take with us in the car and be like (OH Well it got stolen camera) he he SO, I at least should have gotten the D80 :( BUT I am learning how to manual focus which is good. YES!! I am learning all the things on a camera YES and it is good because each day my tremor and my head is getting better. Yeah. It is light enough and small enough that I can take it anywhere I go right now so I just pop one lens on it and take it. :) YEP! just take 400 pictures and bring them back and play play play. YEP! Why not. BUT, It is hard to figure out this focus thing. I would love to see your daughters work. :) ~ I do so miss you! ~ micki Link to comment
