Superb composition. The derelict state of the building contrasts nicely against the landscape it's set in - the structure is small and fragile, the fields around it vast and open. The sky also adds greatly to it.

A very good B&W!

Best regards,

Frank

Usually B&W isn't my forte Frank, but this time of the year the tall grasses are bleached out and they look really nice in B&W when coupled with a stormy sky and these old building's. Thanks again.

Fabulous! This is a wonderful choice for black and white ... it really brings out the contrasts and textures in the sky ... and the clean windswept sky highlights the old falling down shack. Bravo!

I love all these old abandoned homesteads that I get to go shoot at, they have real "character and dignity" in spite of their fall from grace.

Hi Susan! Turn off your double spacing.

When I made the reference to 'emotional hit', I wasn't referring to the artistry of the photos but the memories they bring with them. Great Photo by the way.

I knew what you were saying Dave, I can't visit these places but that I wonder about the lives of the folks that use to live there.

Thanks Pete, I haven't tried printing this image yet but I did enter it electronically in a photo competition, we'll see how it does.

Great composition, grass, and clouds, Susan. Perfectly rendered. Like many here, I love the old stories suggested by these places. I've had this shot in my computer desktop slideshow for a month now, rotating through with many other favorite p.n photos, and it's holding up beautifully. Thank you.

I've always considered myself a "colorist" but the B&W genre has certainly infatuated me lately, this image recently won the "scenery" category in a photo contest that I entered. It's the nostalgia of these abandoned places that really holds the appeal for me. I've been to your corner of New Mexico many times, even went to the Quarter Horse races there many many years ago. Welcome to PN and enjoy the ride Tim. Gracias.
