Micki, I like both your Boy/Dog pics, trying to balance the commenting and put mine over here. I like the action and expression in the boy's eye and the alert posture of his dog, here as in the other one, the eyes say it all, excitement and responsiveness to one another - don't think you need the long caption; the picture says a lot already.

The other picture says a lot about the contentment of the two together and the eyes in that picture are very expressive even though more passive - it is a perfect "portrait" of the two.

I know your pains in picturing children, I've got four littl'uns. I posted a pic of my oldest son demonstrating the typical reception I get when I come around with camera in hand, check it out and see if that looks familiar.

Hi Micki,

New camera, nice. Guess you'll be having some fun now. Congrats.

Can't wait for you to really break-out.

This one certainly does have maybe even more of a Micki touch than the other one, mainly because of the movement, the expression and action that seems to be caught midstream, and the perspective which is a little more Hitchcock-like, especially the fact that you've given us more dimension by including the nicely-angled doors behind them. Right now, I like the other one better. But my guess is I'll go back and forth a little. This one has maybe a little more life and spark. But the other one has that more universal sweetness to it. It's a tough call and I'm glad you've done both. Do you prefer one photo to the other? I have a good friend who's been a photographer forever and he's often said that it takes three good shots to really create a complete portrait. More and more I can see what he's talking about. So, one more to go!

So Fred, does your friend present the three pictures in a collage as a portrait? Similiar to Ellen van Deelen and Daniel Barrington?

Often, he likes to display photos in threes, even nonportraits included. Collages are more rare for him. He was recently kind enough to allow me to choose a photo to hang in a specific place in my house and actually convinced me to choose 3 instead. Generous! They're hanging sort of vertically next to a long, narrow window and look great that way. They're all seemingly different but we chose them because they do have a visual harmony that makes a nice statement and interesting context in which they can play off each other.

Fred, I kind of suspected that; thanks for sharing. The 3 above each other in a narrow space next to a window sounds nice. I like that idea.

I've done that with a "theme" but not with one subject. I have three on one wall of beach silhoettes two of people and one of a seagull.

OH! the wonders of ME! WHICH one DO I LIKE best! hmm ~well I have another picture I haven't posted yet and the DOG is not in it and I like it the best. Personally I like IT the best and it is HIM just looking at me. AND I can't seem to finish it because whenever I do it I tear up. SO, I will probably post it AND the silly thing will be a BOMB! arghhh! HA

BUT truthfully I LOVE it AND YES ~ gosh you guys are GOOD! It will be the CENTER of the two other pictures.

Where do you guys come from!!

WOW! ~ are you guys in Micki's MIND! ~ HA

Fred, I would think you were in my back pocket (if my husband would just keep his hands out of there) oops said THAT outload again! HA

So, Working on THAT picture after having to fix a few things AND the moon from last night AND housework.

Got an e-mail for Kirk too ~ ;) Silly weather (storms) are preventing me from e-mail access.

What's he getting his masters in? I just finished one in philosophy about 3 years ago.

Dishes?, That may be the only thing I can get my kids to do with the threat of banning Nintendo and computer time - "its your choice kids, No Nintendo or 5 minutes to knock out the dishes!", says mean ole' Captain Kirk

So Fred, how long ago did you get your masters in Art Critiqueing?

Kirk

HA! But I did do a fair amount of philosophy of art/esthetics, even though my masters was more geared toward ethics and history of philosophy.

I had a teacher who at University of Texas who found out that I had transfered from a Baptist University (yeah OMG ~ no disrespect meant) and SHE (the philosphy teacher) said I would get an auto D or probably F in the class since I believed in GOD.

I quickly said OH, that won't matter I'm dyslexic so I really believe in DOG . SHE was so humored that she atually gave me a C. She was right. I really had a HARD HARD time in her class. She made me miserable! I was sooooo lost in her class as you probably can figure out as a Behavior Science/Business/Art (oh who the BLEEP knows what I wanted to be at that moment in time) BUT I was WAY music and MATH and psychology minded.

HA! LOL

AND BTW, I do STILL believe in DOG! HA HA HA

Did you ever hear this one?

What would you call a dyslexic agnostic insomniac?

Someone who lays awake in bed at night wondering if there really is a dog?

At first, SORRY for the low activity on my behalf! I`ve been very busy at my work and at the same time very tired and "out of any reasonable vitality..." :-( I made those rock-photos for couple of Finnish gospel bands, but otherwise I`ve sat passively in front of the computer... Where is my inner passion towards PN and photo editing??? (I guess this is somekind of low moment...)

Then, I just love your new works and the pure joy you seem to get from the new camera and the possibilities that it offers! Your latest portraits, at the front page of your PN-pages, are GREAT! That short movie is like three dimensional view and enables to meet you in a LIVE situation. While viewing it, I just waited to hear your voice, until I understood that it was a quick burst of single photos. :-)

These "a boy and his best friend"-photos are wonderful. As the former similar images have shown, they are close friends and now these latest fulfill that feeling. :-D Lovely shots!!!

With warm greetings from very rainy and cold Viitasaari,

Alpo

Michale and Ivana! ~ ALWAYS another shot to the calm one (the other shot to this one).

Alpo ~ I will write you more about my front page but wanted to say something here too.

1st off

We all go up and down on our passion for taking photo's ~ You will get back ;)

Second I did that small clip of me to show ME as is not overdone so people could just see ME. Not manipulated and not one PICTURE of me. Picture tell only one side of a story and I want people to know me. There are so many different pictures of ME in my folder I wanted people to see how "I" can change Me in so many different ways but "I" am just normal. :) ~ YEP! I TOO wish I could have said something. :)

I like your new bio page. I'm confused when you say "manipulating and making pictures into art." At what point is something a picture and at what point art? Those who do little manipulation, what about their photos? Art? I hope you consider your photo above to be art.
