Sunsets have an unfotunate stigma attached to them by photographers, that frankly I find both surprising and unjustified. I was busying myself with shooting the rippled texture of the sand and believed that any chance of a sunset had in fact already evaporated. By chance and for a very short duration the sun streamed through a thin sea haar (mist) so close to the horizon that its power was severely diminished thus preventing lens flare. The rippled sand was beautifully transformed to a crazed lattice of gold and amber that cupped a windblown tide pool.NEW!! Photographic Holidays at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

Glad you like the photograph.

As for the "plug" YOU can choose to link to it or not. All I'm doing is giving MY visitors a choice. I am sure a few folk out there might actually appreciate knowing I run photographic holidays at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

As a sunset lover...I find this scene striking. The ripples, reflection.....are beautifully captured. Nice work~

Awesome light & colours. I love it when a bit of haze turns the sun into an orb like this. Fantastic foreground textures & reflections.

hi Ian, really like your work- a truly consistent professional landscape portfolio. As for this particular photo I'm not sure if you used too much of an ND grad, it may be intentional use to create an underexposure feel in tune with the foreground though... please explain your idea.

I'll let you in on a little secret. I keep a CD wallet with each filter allotted a certain place within it. Normally everything works fine but I loaned another photographer one of my grads and it was inadvertently put back in the wrong slot. Without checking I had picked up the 3 stop grad instead of the two stop grad which I would estimate would have been spot on for this particular shot. Happily I realised my mistake on a the subsequent roll of film and managed to capture two further shots correctly filtered. C'est la vie.

The later trannies are stunners.
