When I first saw this image I was attracted to the shadows (I love shadows). I was trying to determine if there was a way to crop the image to include the shadows and only the most interesting portions of the door. After copying your image to my own computer and trying out different crops I've decided it is not possible to reduce the image to anything less than you've shown and still have a good image.

 

But what I would recommend is to return to this site at the same time of day and then stand much more to the left side. Then take a photograph of only the light above the door with its shadow. Try to get the image to show both the light and its shadow so there are away from the pipe that is holding the light to the wall. Sort of like a snake shape going up, down, up, down. That to me would be the most interesting aspect of this image.

Great little image here IMHO. I know there are those who will want to see detail in the whites, but I find their absence to be quite dramatic. The door has wonderful detail and the light with shadow are frosting on the cake. The chain carries that segment of the image to give it some width. Really well done.
