My first attempt at a portrait. Personally I think the crop is a

little too tight and I don't care for the background. What else could

I do next time to take a better head shot?

It is really too out of focus, and it looks like you just cropped her out of a shot that she didnt know she was supposed to be in. Step back a little and engage her a little. Use a bounce flash to help freeze everything and sharpen up the photo.
